Annually farmers’ livestock sector jamboree, Space 2022 is this year providing a forum for young people interested in farming and the agricultural education programmes
“Our goal is to promote the training programmes and advocate for jobs in livestock farming,” said Chloé Letellier, SPACE Communication Officer, citing that the project is co-constructed with the agricultural education schools.
SPACE 2022 has highlighted that farming, like many other sectors, is facing a significant challenge, attracting a new generation of farmers.
“High school and university students will have a dedicated forum where they can share their passion, their expectations and their vision of the future during thematic workshops,” said Letellier.
Letellier said the Youth Forum will feature one agricultural school each day, with three workshops during which youth will meet with representatives of the business community, replacement service organisations, farm machinery co-operatives and agricultural contractors, among others.
“These forums will give them a chance to express their vision of the profession they plan to pursue, be it livestock farmer, farm employee, technician, sales agent or farm machinery dealer,” said Letellier.
The Space 2022 to be held from the 13 to 15 September will host 359 companies from 36 countries, as well as the return of the international trade press. A total of 53 journalists from 24 countries will cover the Expo this year.
